Respiratory Conditions
Our internist here at Virginia Veterinary Specialists has a strong interest and specialized skills in respiratory medicine. Dr. Miller trained for seven years during her residency and afterward with well-known respiratory specialists. Respiratory diseases are often difficult to diagnose because tissue samples can be difficult to obtain without a major invasive procedure.
Bronchoscopy is a useful tool which allows visualization of the respiratory tract,and also allows for collection of samples for culture, and cell analysis. Bronchoscopy often finds changes in the lungs that are not seen with xrays, and aids in diagnosing respiratory conditions commonly seen in dogs and cats.
