What is a Veterinary Specialist?

Our veterinary specialists have extensive and advanced training in the narrow field of advanced medicine and surgery. Much like human physicians, these specialists have invaluable expertise in providing excellent care. Typically, specialists will have between four to six years of training background alongside a one-year internship and a two to four-year residency beyond veterinary school. Once they complete their veterinary program, all residents must also pass an additional credential review and undergo a rigorously thorough examination from the specialty board to earn the title of Diplomate.
